The Founders.
Dylan Farrell was born and raised in New York where street art and underground industrial music played a formative role in the development of his creative style. His approach to the arts was cultivated while studying industrial design at the world-renown Pratt Institute. During that time, he was one of the original members of the Toyshop Collective and worked alongside many of the world’s most well-known urban artists. Following his studies, Dylan performed with several avant-industrial bands in Brooklyn whilst simultaneously teaching architectural drawing within Pratt’s interior design department and working in antiques restoration and furniture fabrication industries.
Nicolette Farrell was raised in post-industrial Pennsylvania, steeped in the traditions of American arts and crafts. As a trade, she initially gravitated to creative writing, studying journalism at the prestigious Newhouse School at Syracuse University. Later, she followed a calling to the visual arts, studying at Pratt Institute’s school of interior design, where she graduated with top honors. During her studies, she had a penchant for fashion design, and took an interest in creating constructivist garments using atypical fabrication techniques.
The two met whilst working and studying at Pratt Institute in the early 2000’s, connecting in their appreciation for cosmic post-rock music and the magnetic energy of Brooklyn’s bourgeoning arts scene. They honed their crafts working alongside several American and European design icons on widely recognized projects and collections. Their design works eventually brought them to Australia, where they have lived and worked for over a decade. They now split their time between their two centers of operation — New York and Sydney, Australia.
The Studio.
After Editions is a collective of creative talents, founded in 2023 by Dylan and Nicolette Farrell. We design objects that unite contemporary craftsmanship with courageous playfulness. Born of a love for collaging utility with ornament and constructivism with romance, our studio takes joy in tinkering with unexpected visual narratives that are grounded in classical sensibilities.
The Collection.
Each object offered by After Editions is thoughtfully crafted in close collaboration with some of the world’s most talented artisans, combining age-old techniques with the most modern technologies available. Artistic risks are taken. Gimmicks are avoided. The goal is to offer heirloom pieces filled with undiluted personality. The current works in the collection have been widely published in Architectural Digest, Belle, Elle Décor, The Financial Review, The Hollywood Reporter, Interior Design, Interiors, Marie Claire Maison, New York Spaces, Veranda, Vogue, and Vogue Living – and the Modules Table won a Best of Year award from the esteemed Interior Design magazine.
